Wash Project Bhoomi Pooja at Thiruvanjeri

At Government School, Thiruvanchery, the problem was never the children’s willingness to learn. It was something far more basic, far more painful, and far too unacceptable, poor toilet facilities that were silently pushing children out of school. When dignity is missing, education begins to slip away. When sanitation fails, attendance suffers. And when children, especially young girls, begin to stay away from school because of inadequate toilets, it is not just a school issue but a community alarm bell. District WASH Chair Dr. Anuradha Ganesan and the Rotary Club of Chennai Dynamic brought this urgent need to the attention of the Rotary Club of Madras, andRCM was proud to step in and include the project as part of a Global Grant supported by the Jain Family Foundation. Today, the Bhoomi Puja marked the beginning of much more than a construction project. It marked the beginning of renewed confidence, safer school days, improved attendance, and restored dignity for the children .

The food was hearty and authentically local, and even the vegetarians among us relished the fresh and flavourful produce. The next day took us into the heart of nature — a visit to the famed Black Forest. We strolled along a treetop walkway that culminated in a long spiralling tower, offering a panoramic view of the forest canopy below.
